A recent fire in a New Jersey manufacturing facility spread oil and soot throughout its 30,000 sq ft warehouse, causing extensive damage to both building and contents and leaving hazardous material contamination behind. Soot residue, smoke odor, water, and damaged inventory and machinery halted operations. Insurance Restoration Specialists (IRS) responded with its Environmental and Restoration divisions to perform a hazmat cleanup, fire damage restoration and cleaning. The IRS teams were able to quickly return to the facility pre-loss condition and get operations back online.
The fire began in a plastic injection molding machine, rapidly spreading soot throughout the facility.
Water from firefighting efforts impacted a large portion of the building, leaving behind contamination and extensive water damage on contents and machinery.
Oil leakage damaged contents and required specialized hazmat cleanup procedures.
Smoke, soot and water damage extended beyond the manufacturing space into common areas and administrative offices.
IRS’ fire remediation experts assessed the extent of the fire, smoke and water damage and immediately began mitigation. As water was safely removed, responders removed contents for cleaning, repair and smoke and odor removal. Debris was removed to facilitate smoke removal and property repair efforts. The HVAC system was inspected and thoroughly cleaned by professionals from IRS’ AirSystems division.
Remediation experts were dispatched throughout the facility to examine and clean soot-covered fixtures.
Crews thoroughly cleaned and deodorized manufacturing equipment, removing contents for offsite soot removal and decontamination.
All areas of the factory and warehouse were meticulously inspected for hidden water and smoke damage.
IRS carefully processed the 30,000 sq ft space to contain and eliminate fire-related contaminants.
IRS’s Air Systems experts cleaned the entire HVAC system, where smoke and soot damage typically extend well beyond the fire location.
IRS was able to quickly return the facility to operation. Said the company owner, “[IRS was] professional from start to finish and [its] crew worked around the clock to get us up and running as soon as possible. We are very pleased with the result.”
